It is extremely easy for individuals and entities who have submitted PAN applications to track their PAN card status. Once they submit their PAN application for new PAN card or corrections in existing PAN card, an acknowledgement number is sent to them, using which they can easily track the status of their PAN application online. The process of PAN application involves duly filling and submitting an application form. It can either be done through an online facility or through the offline process at any PAN/TIN Facilitation Centre (TIN-FC).
Checking one’s PAN card status is important and the online mode of tracking the status using the acknowledgement number is the most convenient way to know if the application has been processed or not. Alankit Limited, a notable e-Governance service provider, not only assists individuals and entities who have applied for PAN card, but also provides timely support in tracking the PAN status. After 3 to 4 days of sending the application, all the applicants can check their PAN card status online. It can be done simply by clicking on the ‘Track your PAN’ option on the Alankit website page. Once the acknowledgment number is entered, the status of the PAN card will be displayed.
PAN card acknowledgement number
The acknowledgement number is a unique 15-digit number which is generated and assigned to each individual or entity who has submitted a PAN application. An acknowledgement slip is sent to the registered e-mail Id of the applicant which shows the 15-digit acknowledgement number. The number is assigned after the applicants have submitted their PAN application through Alankit, Income Tax Department, UTI or any other PAN Service provider. Alankit accepts PAN applications on behalf of Income Tax Department and thus the entity will generate a 15-digit acknowledgement number. On the other hand, if the applicant has submitted the PAN application through UTIITSL, a 9-digit application coupon number will be generated.
Ways to check the status of PAN application
After the successful submission of PAN application through online or offline mode, it takes around 15 to 20 business days for the applicant to receive the PAN application. However, it is possible to know the status of one’s application using the 15-digit acknowledgement number. There are various ways through which all applicants - individuals or entities - can track their PAN application status. It involves both online and offline methods. They have been discussed below:
TIN Facilitation Centre :
The simplest way to track PAN card status is by contacting the TIN Facilitation Centre and providing the 15-digit acknowledgement number. Alankit has various TIN Facilitation Centres spread across the country. Dedicated staff has been deployed at these centres to offer timely guidance and assistance to the customers.
SMS Service :
PAN applicants can track the status of their PAN card application by sending SMS PAN (15-digit acknowledgement number). The present status of their PAN card application will be sent to them, via SMS.
Online tracking :
The most convenient of all the methods of tracking PAN application is online tracking. The 15-digit acknowledgement number could be used to track PAN card status by simply entering the number at the designated place on the PAN page of Alankit website. The same facility is offered directly by Income Tax Department and UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL). This means, by visiting the Income Tax Department or UTIITSL websites, applicants need to use the respective acknowledgement number assigned by Income Tax Department or UTIITSL to track the status of their PAN cards.
Check PAN card status via SMS
According to the official website of the Income Tax Department, PAN applicants can track the status of their applications using the 15-digit acknowledgement number. The status track facility can be used after three days of submitting the PAN application. The Income Tax Department makes the SMS service available to the PAN applicants. The applicants will receive a prompt message displaying the actual status of their PAN card application.
Check PAN card status via telephone call
Just like the SMS service, PAN applicants can check the status of their PAN application through a simple telephone call made to the Tax Information Network call centre. According to the official website of the Income Tax Department, applicants can contact 020-27218080 and provide their 15-digit acknowledgement number. Applicants can also contact Alankit representatives, who are located at various PAN/TIN Facilitation Centres (TIN-FC), and get instant update on the PAN application status.
Check PAN card status with PAN or coupon number on UTI website
The UTI Infrastructure Technologies Services Limited (UTIITSL) has been authorised by the Government of India to receive and process PAN applications. If an applicant submits a PAN application through the UTI website, a 9-digit application coupon number will be generated and sent to the applicants. To track the PAN card status, applicants must access the PAN card tracking page on UTI website. They must enter the application Coupon Number or existing Permanent Account Number (PAN), enter the Captcha Code and click ‘submit’ icon, in the subsequent step. The PAN card status will be displayed.
Check PAN card application status through acknowledgement number
Alankit Limited sends a 15-digit acknowledgement number, after it accepts the PAN card applications on behalf of Income Tax Department. To know the PAN card status, applicants must access the tracking page and enter the acknowledgement number as well as select the type of PAN application in the designated box. In the following step, they should enter the Captcha code and click on ‘submit’ button. Applicants can see the PAN card status on their screens.
How to check PAN card status without an acknowledgement number?
The TIN Center allows the PAN applicants to track their PAN card status not only using the 15-digit acknowledgement number but also without it. In cases where applicants need to track the PAN card status without the acknowledgement number, they must simply use their name and date of birth to check their PAN card status. On the ‘Track your PAN/TAN Application Status’ section, applicants must enter their Name and DOB details and then click on ‘submit’ icon. The PAN card status will be displayed on their screens.
