A PAN Card is an important identity proof for taxpayers and is required when carrying out any kind of financial transaction in India. A unique ten-digit alpha-numeric number known as the Permanent Account Number is mentioned on the card and is issued by the income tax department of government of India. How to Apply for Changes or Correction in PAN Card Online


The process of making changes or correction in PAN Card begins with filling and submitting an application form. Alankit has set up numerous TIN Facilitation centers for PAN card-related services.   1. Step 1: Applicants can obtain the PAN Card Correction Form from any Alankit offices or simply download the form from the official website of Alankit. Applicants who are Indian Citizens and Indian companies within India must select the Form 49A whereas entities and individuals residing outside India, and foreign passport holders, must choose Form 49AA.
  2. Step 2: After selecting the relevant form, applicants must proceed to fill in the required details and keep in mind the instruction given on the form. They should refrain from overwriting or mentioning any kind of unwanted information. Applicants should provide the correct details for the changes or corrections to be made such as PAN holder’s name, father’s name, address, etc.
  3. Step 3: To authenticate the information provided in the form, applicants must submit supporting documents for verification including passport-sized photographs, valid proof of identity (POI) and proof of address (POA). They may provide a copy of Aadhaar Card , Voters ID card, any Photo ID card which is issued by the government, etc.
  4. Step 4: Applicants must submit the forms and post them to Alankit office with all the supporting documents. For the services availed, they need to pay process charges fee which ranges from Rs. 107 to Rs. 120 (all inclusive) for Indians and around Rs. 1,040 for residing outside India. Executives at Alankit office are responsible for collecting, reviewing and submitting the applications to the PAN Department.

After the successful submission of the pan card form, an acknowledgment slip is sent to the applicants who track the status using the 15 digit unique Acknowledgment Number after 3 or 4 days of application. The updated PAN card is dispatched to the PAN holder within 15 to 20 business days.

Documents required for Correction / Change in PAN Card


Relevant documents for verification should be provided for supporting the information given on the form. Individual applicants can provide Elector’s photo identity card, Aadhar card issued by UIDAI, driving license, passport, Photo Identity Card issued by the central/state, Property Registration document, landline telephone or broadband connection bill, electricity bill, etc. Companies and corporate entities may furnish copy of registration allotted by any competent authority in India (for running office in India) or their respective country of given location (if they have no offices in India). Foreign nationals should provide their citizenship identification number, passport copy or copy of PIO card, etc.
